The Esan people (Ẹ̀bhò Ẹ̀sán) are an ethnic group of south Nigeria who speak the Esan language

Esan people occupy five (5) Local Government Areas (LGA) of Edo State:

  1. Esan-North-East - with Uromi as the headquarters
    Towns: Uromi and Uzea
  2. Esan West - headquarters is in the town of Ekpoma
    Towns: Ekpoma, Iruekpen, Idoa, Ogwa, Urohi, Ukhun, Egoro and Ujiogba
  3. Esan Central -  headquarters is in the town of Irrua
    Towns: Irrua, Ugbegun, Opoji, Ewu, Ebudin
  4. Esan South East - headquarters is in the town of Ubiaja
    Towns: Ubiaja, Ewohimi, Emu, Ohordua, Ẹwatto, Okhuesan, Orowa, Ugboha, Oria, lllushi, Onogholo, Inyenlen
  5. Igueben -  headquarters is in the town of Igueben
    Towns: Igueben, Ebelle, Amaho, Ẹwossa, Udo, Ekpon, Ugun, Okalo

These 5 make up the Edo Central Senatorial District.
