Edo State is in southern Nigeria, within the South-South geopolitical zone, with Benin City as its capital. The state is historically significant as the heartland of the ancient Benin Kingdom. Edo State shares boundaries with Kogi State to the north, Ondo State to the west, Delta State to the east and south, and Anambra State to the northeast.
Edo State is made up of 18 Local Government Areas (LGAs), grouped across its three senatorial districts:
Edo South Senatorial District:
Oredo, Ikpoba-Okha, Egor, Uhunmwonde, Orhionmwon, Ovia North-East, Ovia South-West
Edo Central Senatorial District:
Esan West, Esan Central, Esan North-East, Esan South-East, Igueben
Edo North Senatorial District:
Etsako West, Etsako Central, Etsako East, Owan West, Owan East, Akoko-Edo
